AMC announced on Thursday that Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul was being pushed back to 2015, but that it had already been renewed for a second season.
The series was set to debut in November, but will instead air sometime in early 2015, likely airing alongside ratings monster The Walking Dead, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The first season, which stars Bob Odenkirk as the titular character, is only 10 episodes long, but the second season will be 13 episodes and air in early 2016. The early renewal shows AMC has faith in the series, but the delay leaves the network without any new offerings until next year.
"Production on Better Call Saul is underway and we could not be more proud nor more excited about the work to date," Charlie Collier, AMC president, said. "We join the fans in eager anticipation for this series and today we happily confirm that our initial Saul order is for two seasons and a total of 23 episodes."
The prequel series, based upon co-showrunner Vince Gilligan's character of Saul Goodman, was greenlit in September shortly after Breaking Bad finished out its series run.
Peter Gould is the other showrunner on the project, while Gilligan will direct the pilot episode. Alongside Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks is also reprising his character of Mike Ehrmantraut for the series.
