With the launch of Apple Maps from iOS6 back in 2012, there were many issues with respect to the data collected. Now Apple is working on improving its Maps daily with improved data and user corrections.
According to Forbes, when Maps was introduces, it had many errors. The company's CEO Tim Cook issued an apology by saying that it "fell short" and recommended other GPS services like Google Maps. The software was missing several places of interests or POIs with many wrong locations.
However, Apple is improving its maps everyday now. To improve their software, Apple acquired many navigation start-up companies like HopStock, Embark, WifiSLAM, Locationary, Spotsetter and Broadmap. Rumor also has it that Apple will integrate transit schedules in iOS 8 which will enable users to check bus, train and subway times.
Apple Insider notes that customers can report errors with Maps on any iOS device by tapping the 'i' button in the bottom right corner and select the option "Report a Problem." Users can then notify Apple about the absurdity in the results.
Fixing these improvements will win back the customer's trust on Apple Maps.
