The Washington Post reports that shots were fired during a pre-show party for the BET Awards in Los Angeles, Calif., leaving one person dead and four people wounded.

According to LAist the party was held at the Monalizza Restaurant and Banquet Hall on Vermont Avenue. One person was found dead at the scene and four others were taken to the hospital. As of now, according to LAist, their conditions remain undisclosed.

Los Angeles police officer Drake Madison told The Washington Post the shots were reported just after 5 a.m. Sunday. Madison says that although the party was related to the BET Awards it wasn’t part of the official events for the awards show. No arrests have been made and the suspect and motive for the shooting at this point remain unknown. It is also not clear if the shooting occurred from within the building or if the shooter fired from outside according to The Washington Post.

The BET Awards take place tonight at the Nokia Theater and will air live at 8 p.m. EST.
