With just a few days to go before the annual summer reality hijinks on CBS’ Big Brother starts all over again, the network has been out in force promoting it. This season, which is the show’s 16th, will shake up the format with two new twists to throw the houseguests and the audience off.
During Wednesday’s episode of The Talk, BB host Julie Chen revealed the two new twists of the season. The first affects the Head of Household (HOH) position. There will be two HOHs each week, each with their special privileges as usual. However, the title does not keep a houseguest from being evicted. Each HOH is also responsible for nominating two guests for eviction.
The second twist is the new “Team America” interactive feature, which will give the audience a chance to have an impact on the season.
Finally, a new game called “Battle of the Block” will be introduced. “The new Battle of the Block competition will shake up the power in the house like never before,” executive producer Allison Grodner said in a statement. “A Houseguest can go from zero to hero, or vice versa, every week!"
On Thursday, CBS announced the 16 houseguests, who hold all kinds of jobs in real life. The competitors are: Amber Borzotra (Esthetician); Christine Brecht (barista); Cody Calafiore (sales account executive); Nicole Franzel (nursing graduate); Frankie Grande (YouTube star); Derrick Levasseur (police sergreant); Brittany Martinez (event coordinator); Jocasta Odom (minister); Victoria Refaeli (photographer); Zach Rance (college grad); Caleb Reynolds (hunting guide); Paola Shea (DJ); Devin Shepherd (former baseball player); Donny Thompson (school groundskeeper); Joey Van Pelt (makeup artist); Hayden Voss (pedicab driver).
Big Brother’s new season kicks off on June 25 at 8 p.m. and June 26 at 9 p.m.
