The Brooklyn Nets trade away Jason Kidd, and he will become the new head coach the Milwaukee Bucks next season. In exchange, the Nets will receive draft picks in the years 2015 and 2019. As a result, the Bucks fired head coach Larry Drew. After a successful head-coaching debut this season with the Brooklyn Nets, Kidd was given permission to talk to the Bucks about the opportunity of becoming a new face on the sidelines.
It has been reported the former all-star was not pleased that in the past month both Steve Kerr and Derek Fisher received higher salaries than him to coach new teams, written by the New York Daily News. Both Kerr and Fisher were similar to Kidd that they did not have any head-coaching experience prior to there big pay days. That led to Kidd wanting to talk to the Bucks about a coaching position in that organization.
According to ESPN, Kidd is only the fourth NBA coach to switch teams right after his rookie season as a head coach. He is the first coach to do such a thing since Stan Albeck and Jack McKinney did following the 1979-1980 season.
