Skateboarder Rob Dyrdek and actress Kathy Bates are celebrating their birthdays today.

Professional skateboarder, actor, entrepreneur, producer, and reality TV star Rob Dyrdek turns 40 today. At the age of twelve, Dyrdek acquired sponsorship from the same company that Blender was a team member of and began his skateboarding career. A few years later, Dyrdek and Blender quit their board sponsor and created Alien Workshop, Dyrdek's current skateboard deck sponsor and a company that he now owns. Dyrdek is sponsored by DC Shoes, Alien Workshop, Silver Trucks, a company that he helped establish in 2003, and Monster Energy.

Dyrdek first starred in an MTV reality series, Rob & Big, with his best friend and bodyguard Christopher "Big Black" Boykin. He then starred in Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory, which features a converted warehouse where Dyrdek runs his many entrepreneurial ventures with his cousin, Chris "Drama" Pfaff. Dyrdek was also featured in the video games skate., and Skate 2. Dyrdek appeared in Jackass 3.5, in a scene with Johnny Knoxville.

Dyrdek started another show with the MTV called Ridiculousness, where he comments on internet videos that are mainly extreme sport mishaps.

Kathy Bates, 66

Actress and director Kathy Bates turns 66 today. After appearing in several minor roles in film and television during the 1970s and the 1980s, Bates gained fame with her role in Misery, for which she won both the Academy Award for Best Actress and a Golden Globe. She followed with major roles in Fried Green Tomatoes and Dolores Claiborne, before playing starring in Titanic.

Bates received a Tony Award nomination for her 1983 performance in the Broadway play 'night, Mother. She won a Screen Actors Guild Award for her performance in Primary Colors, for which she also received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for About Schmidt. Her television work has resulted in eleven Emmy Award nominations, two of which were for her role on the television series Harry's Law and most recently, a win for her guest appearance on the CBS series Two and a Half Men.

Bates also appeared in Failure to Launch, Bee Movie, The Blind Side and Midnight in Paris.

Bates most recently co-starred in the third season of the FX television series American Horror Story, portraying Delphine LaLaurie. She can be seen in the upcoming comedy Tammy, in theaters July 2.
