Actress Angelina Jolie and comedian Russell Brand are celebrating their birthdays today.

Actress, film director, screenwriter and author Angelina Jolie turns 39 today. In her film career, Jolie received an Academy Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and three Golden Globe Awards. Her first leading role in a major film was in the cyber-thriller Hackers. She starred in the critically acclaimed biographical television film Gia, and won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the drama Girl, Interrupted.
She went on to star in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, The Cradle of Life, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Wanted, Salt, The Tourist, A Mighty Heart and Changeling. Jolie made her directorial debut with the wartime drama In the Land of Blood and Honey.
Jolie promotes humanitarian causes, and is noted for her work with refugees as a Special Envoy and former Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Jolie can most recently be seen in Disney's Maleficent, in theaters now.
Russell Brand, 39

Comedian, actor, radio host and author Russell BRand turns 39 today. Brand achieved fame as the host of Big Brother's Big Mouth, a Big Brother spin-off. In 2007, he had his first major film role in St Trinian's, and went on to star in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him to the Greek, Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2, Hop and Arthur.
Brand has been involved in numerous controversies such as being fired from MTV, his behavior as a presenter at different award ceremonies, and his drug use. He has incorporated his drug use, alcoholism, and promiscuity into his comedic material.
Brand's writing career consists of two books with HarperCollins, Articles of Faith and Booky Wook 2: This Time It's Personal. From 2006 to 2009, Brand wrote a column for The Guardian. A collection of the columns from 2006 and 2007 was released in a book entitled Irons in the Fire.
Brand was married to Singer Katy Perry from 2010 to 2012. He is currently in a relationship with Jemima Khan, an Associate Editor of the New Statesman.
