Chloe Grace Moretz, the actress who portrayed “Hit Girl” in the Kick Ass film series, hints that a future enstallment of the ultraviolent superhero franchise is not likely, blaming internet piracy for Kick Ass 2’s lack of success.

As noted by Movies with Butter, Moretz won the Saturn Award for “Best Performance by a Young Actor” for her role in the remake of Carrie. When reporters asked her if there would be any future installments of the film series that brought her to the public eye, Moretz said, “You know, I hope, I wish,” Moretz said. “That’s be fun. That’d be great. I doubt it, but I would love it.”

“The hard thing is if fans want a third movie, they’ve got to go buy the ticket to go see the movie,” Moretz said. “It was like the second most pirated movie of the year, so if you want a movie to be made into a second, a third, a fourth and a fifth, go buy a ticket. Don’t pirate it.”

As reported by IGN, Kick-Ass 2 grossed $60.8 million worldwide, whereas the original film earned $96.2 million at the global box office.
