Here are your headlines in the world of sports for this Thursday June 12th, 2014.
Heat / Spurs Game 4:
In a shocking turn of events, the Miami Heat not only lost Game 3, but were dismantled in the process. Spurs guard Kawhi Leonard: welcome to the 2014 NBA Finals kid. Leonard was the star of Game 3 as he poured in 29 points and harassed LeBron James all night on the defensive end (limiting James to only 22 points), according to SportsIllustrated.com.
After the Heat flexed their muscle in Game 2, nobody saw this domination coming. What’s becoming very clear is that the Heat are a very terrible team when LeBron is not on the floor. Nobody in NBA history has been asked to do as much as this guy is asked to do night in and night out. He’s their leading scorer, plays point, rebounds like a big and guards the opposing team’s best player (any position I might add).
The key to the remaining part of these finals is LeBron James and how much he actually has left in the tank.
Brazil tops Croatia, 3-1:
Today marks the start of the every four year obsession that our great country has in soccer. The 2014 FIFA World Cup kicked off today, and one of the favorites hit the ground running.
Brazil defeated Croatia by the score of 3-1 in today’s World Cup opener as Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior (Neymar) scored two of Brazil’s three goals, notes ChicagoTribune.com.
Hard Knocks comes to Atlanta:
Since HBO has brought us Hard Knocks: Inside Training Camp with whatever team they persuaded that season, the show has been a smashing success. From the very first season in 2001 with the Ravens, to last year’s version with the Cincinnati Bengals, fans of all teams tune in to somewhat grasp what an NFL training camp really feels like.
The 2014 season will bring us to Atlanta as we will witness the Falcons beginning of the new campaign. An interesting choice considering Atlanta is coming off of a surprising non-competitive season after so many years of playoff consistency.
