Derrick Rose, Chicago Bulls all-star hasn’t played in a game since a loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on November 22. The former MVP saw his career derailed after a torn ACL in his left knee on May 2012. Then again on November 22 when he torn cartilage in his right knee.

While most people didn’t think they would see Rose back on the hardwood floors until the start of the 2014 season, it appears he could be back for the 2014 Basketball World Cup in Spain. USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo said they will give Rose a chance to try-out for a spot on the U.S. roster via BleacherReport.

“I think he needs to find out just where he is physically. So he is welcome to come to our camp, he is welcome to show us where he is.” said Colangelo.

In 2010 Rose was a crucial piece of the guard rotation at the FIBA Basketball World Cup averaging 7.2 points per game and over three assists. The last week of July try-outs will be held in Vegas to sort through a number of players and pick a final roster according to ProBasketballTalk,/a>.

Certain players are already locks to make the team such as Kevin Durant and Kevin Love, but other players like LeBron James and Chris Paul plan to skip this year’s tournament. Rose will likely be fighting for a spot with Russell Westbrook, Stephen Curry and Damien Lillard.
