Detroit Tigers (42-32) Matinez duo had their way with the Texas Rangers (35-42) pitching staff.

Victor Martinez went 2-for-5 including his 20th homer of the year off Joe Saunders (0-4). His teammate J.D. Martinez went 2-for-4 with his ninth homerun of the season. Detroit put up five runs in the first three innings. The two hit consecutive homeruns off of different Texas pitchers in the fifth inning, according to USA Today

Saunders gave up a leadoff triple to Rajai Davis on his second pitch of the night, according to MLB.com Saunders allowed six runs on seven hits and five walks in four frames Wednesday night. The Rangers have dropped seven in a row.

Detroit pitcher Anibal Sanchez (5-2) fanned five and allowed four runs in 5.1 innings. Sanchez gave up a 347-foot homerun to Carlos Pena, his first of the season. The Rangers closed the deficit to 7-5 in the seventh on a sacrifice fly from Alex Rios. Ranger’s third baseman Adrian Beltre hit his 2,500th Major League hit, the most active hits on the Rangers roster.
