At this point in his career, Dwight Howard of the Houston Rockets has not won an NBA championship. He knows that superstar forward Carmelo Anthony is looking to become a free agent July 1 and Howard feels Anthony would be great in Houston. Howard knows Anthony wants to accomplish the same goal because they both have not won an NBA tittle.
"I think at this point he just wants to win, so it would be great to have him here because I know what his focus would be. It's up to him, where he's at in his career. But I want people on my team who are all about winning. That's my focus,” said Howard, reported by CBS Sports.
After averaging 26 points, 13.7 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks per game in the first round of the playoffs against the Portland Trailblazers, Howard wants another superstar to help him and fellow all-star James Harden in Houston. The 10-year pro wants to win right now. Getting another big name would insure Howard he has a legitimate chance to compete in the NBA finals.
Both point guard Jeremy Lin and center Omer Asik are players the Rockets are looking to trade to land a big free agent such as Carmelo Anthony. However, Howard says he has no plans to lead the recruiting effort, according to USA Today.
