Caleb Bankston, a well-liked Survivor contestant during the Blood vs. Water season last year, has died in a railway accident in Alabama. He was only 26-years-old.

According to TMZ, he was working at the Alabama Warrior Railway when a train derailed on Tuesday. He was killed in the accident. It is not clear what caused the derailment, but both the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Federal Railroad Administration have been called in to investigate.

People reports that Bankston competed on the show with his fiance, Coldon Combie and came in ninth place. Fellow competitors sent statements to the magazine, expressing their condolences.

“Caleb was an amazing man and friend,” Aras Baskauskas told People. “One of the sweetest and most sincere humans I've ever come across. I am gutted by his loss. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.”

Sabrina Thompson, who was on Survivor: One World with Combie, said that Combie always talked about Bankston during their season together.

“Within seconds of meeting Caleb at the finale and Survivor events, it's no wonder why he raved about him,” Thompson recalled. “You were instantly drawn to his big smile, warm spirit and Southern charm. May God rest his soul … gone too soon.”

Sadly, Bankston is the third Survivor contestant to die since the CBS show premiered. Just last year, BB Andersen died following a battle with brain cancer at age 77.
