While driving around Los Angeles, the last thing anyone needs to see is a giant eyeball with a worm sticking out of it. The billboards with the disturbing image are supposed to promote The Strain, a new series debuting on FX in July. Thankfully, the nightmare will be over since the network is going to pull some of them.

Earlier this week, a Buzzfeed writer in LA complained about the disgusting image and pointed out that hundreds have gone to Twitter to do so as well. “I guess NO WORMS CRAWLING OUT OF EYEBALLS ON BILLBOARDS PLEASE was a thing that needed to be said explicitly?” one user wrote.

Even The Muppets writer Nicholas Stoller complained, tweeting, “Hey The Strain billboards: f**k you! People have little kids in this city who don't want to be scared out of their goddamn minds.”

After all those complaints, FX has come to its senses and is pulling down some - but not all - of the offending billboards.

“We are in the process of replacing the key art for The Strain on outdoor media in several locations,” a spokesman told TheWrap.

So, it looks like LA drivers will now get back to focusing on the horrors of traffic instead.

The Strain stars House of Cards actor Corey Stoll, along with David Bradley and Anne Betancourt. The series is based on the books by Pacific Rim director Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan. It premiers on July 13.
