George R.R. Martin’s saga might just be gaining an additional volume. Martin’s editor Anne Groell, recently let go of some interesting information pertaining to his Martin writers and she edits the popular series.

The HuffingtonPost reports that the A Song of Ice and Fire saga was originally meant to be a trilogy but expanded into seven books, one per kingdom in the stories universe. Yet Groell says that there are technically eight kingdoms so perhaps, “eight books for seven kingdoms would be okay.” Plans for book six’s release date is still unknown as Martin continues to work on it leaving fans to remain patient and entertained by the HBO adaptation of the series.

An additional novel would shake things up for HBO as the television show is quickly meeting up with the material given to the shows producers by the books for the characters. Though this may not be a large problem considering the show has been going in different directions, not all following Martin’s story exactly, reports Entertainment Weekly.

“I like many of the new scenes they’ve inserted along the way, though I miss the things they leave out,” Martin confesses while admitting he feels the show may not be able to tell every story to its best ability in only seven seasons, which producers have been planning.

Yet everything is all up to chance and naturally, Martin, and the way he wishes to tell his story. “My plan is to finish in seven. My plan right now is still seven. But first I have to finish Book Six. Get back to me when I’m half-way through Book Seven and then maybe I’ll tell you something more meaningful.”
