Love America is the name of Rivera’s debut short film. The film appeared online on Tuesday. The movie is three minutes long. In it, a piece of paper is passed from person to person as their immigrant stories are revealed.
Rivera had a lot to say about her heritage. According to BuzzFeed, she said, “Aside from being a Latina, my family immigrated from Puerto Rico and Yugoslavia so I know all about that,” “I wouldn’t be able to do what I do today if they didn’t come to America. Everybody has an immigration story.”
Rivera’s film was made in conjunction with Welcome, a not-for-profit organization. The organization asked for stories about immigration in America. The non-profit is honoring the month of June as Immigrant Heritage month.
Rivera isn’t the only celebrity who submitted a film for the project. According to the SF Gate, other celebs to try their hand at making immigration movies include Joely Fisher, Guillermo Diaz, and Rocsi Diaz.
Rivera has starred in the popular television show, Glee.
