Schumacher suffered severe head injuries on the Meribel ski resort in the French Alps. The Formula One race car driver was moved from a hospital in France, according to Reuters. His management confirmed that he left the hospital in Grenoble “to continue his long phase of rehabilitation.”

Schumacher's family "would like to explicitly thank all his treating doctors, nurses, and therapists in Grenoble as well as the first aiders at the place of the accident, who did an excellent job in those first months," said spokeswoman Sabine Kehm in a statement, according to ESPN.

The spokeswoman also said that the many good wishes were greatly helpful to Schumacher and his family. Schumacher, 45, is now at the Lausanne University Hospital in nearby Switzerland. In early April, Schumacher showed moments of “consciousness and awakening” from his coma.

Schumacher is a championship race car driver, having won 91 Grand Prix victories. He retired from Formula 1 racing after winning seven world titles.
