What was originally speculated as a minor knick turned out to be a broken ankle, putting Han Solo actor Harrison Ford out of action for up to eight weeks.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ford injured his ankle by the door of the Millennium Falcon, the star ship Solo pilots in the original trilogy.
The Han Solo actor was treated in a British hospital where doctors confirmed he has a broken ankle, according to British site Mirror. Filming of Episode VII is expected to continue and the release date is still set for Dec. 18, 2015.
“The initial day or two after the accident it was hard to move things around but now we have had more time we can juggle things, bring some scenes forward and push others back," Mirror's movie source said. "There are lots of other actors in the movie so it is not a disaster. We are still confident the film can stay on schedule."
Ford was joined by fellow original cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker for Episode VII, directed by J.J. Abrams.
Among others in the cast are John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong'o and Max von Sydow.
Filming began last month in London and Abu Dhabi.
