In a new interview, Hillary Clinton says that she has moved on from her husband’s Monica Lewinsky scandal. While she again didn’t say for sure that she would be running for president in 2016, she did say that electing a woman president is the “glass ceiling” of American politics that we have to break.
While speaking with People, Clinton said that it is time to look to the future and not back at the Lewinsky scandal that engulfed Bill Clinton’s White House tenure. “I think everybody needs to look to the future,” the former First Lady told People, reports The New York Times.
She was also asked if she regretted calling Lewinsky a “narcissistic loony toon” back when the affair was discovered. “I’m not going to comment on what did and didn’t happen,” Clinton replied.
According to the Associated Press, the former Secretary of State did say that she would like to see a woman become president. She called that a “glass ceiling” that American politics needs to break.
“I’m certainly in the camp that says we need to break down that highest, hardest glass ceiling in American politics,” Clinton said. “To have a woman president is something I would love to see happen, but I’ll just have to make my own decision about what I think is right for me.”
Clinton, who did reveal that she binge-watched House of Cards, timed the interview with the release of Hard Choices, in which she recounts her four years as President Obama’s Secretary of State. She is also widely expected to announce a run for president in 2016 soon.
