Texans offensive lineman David Quessenberry has been diagnosed Lymphoma, a type of blood cancer.

He announced that he had cancer on twitter on June 10:

He first felt something wrong last week during an organized team activity practice. He thought he had a persistent cough, but he also felt like he was going to black out, his agent, Chase Callahan told, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Caplan.

After Quessenberry met with the training staff, he took tests that showed he had non-Hodgkin T Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. He started chemotherapy shortly after the diagnosis.

On Tuesday, Quessenberry told a TV station in Houston, “I am gonna kick the crap outta this thing and come back even stronger! I will win this fight.”

Texans head coach Bill O’Brien said that the Texans are behind Quessenberry during his recovery.

“We want everybody to know, especially David Quessenberry, that we’re very much in David Quessenberry’s corner. The one thing that’s stood out to me and our coaching staff is what an impressive young man this is. He’s a guy that wanted his teammates to know that he was going to fight this thing and he was going to beat it. We’re all behind him and we know that he’s going to do that. We look forward to the day that he beats it and hew returns to the Houston Texans.

Quessenberry was a former sixth-round draft pick by the Texans and he played at San Jose State University
