The former rapper exhibits his acting prowess on Jimmy Kimmel Live as he manages to make even ‘lavender body wash’ sound menacing.
Ice Cube returns as Captain Dickson in the aptly named 21 Jump Street Sequel – 22 Jump Street. From the moment Captain Dickson emerges onto screen in the prequel, he establishes himself as the less than mild mannered man in charge of the 21 Jump Street Undercover Division.
Seeing as Dickson’s role involves supervising the often unconventional activities of Schmidt and Jenko, played by Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, it is no surprise that the Captain possesses a notoriously short fuse. In honor of the 22 Jump Street release, Jimmy Kimmel puts the stars expert delivery skills to the test. Kimmel proceeded to give Ice Cube lines to read that may as well have been excerpts from the diary of a sensitive 14-year-old girl.
Accompanied by ominous lighting, horror-movie-like sound effects, and Ice Cubes signature scowl, the actor successfully makes saying “There is nothing better on a gloomy day than a good book, a warm blanket, and a creamy pumpkin bisque” sound like a threat. Despite stumbling on a few lines, which the star attributes to having been a student in the L.A. Unified School District, and hence not being able to “read that good”, Ice Cube more than makes up for his lack of literacy skills with his proficiency as an actor.
