Rapper/actor Ice T’s grandson Elyjah Morrow was arrested for accidently shooting and killing his roommate.
Rolling Stone reports that Morrow is being charged with involuntary manslaughter after the shooting in Cobb County, Georgia.
The 19-year-old was “wrecklessly handling a gun” according to Marietta police. Morrow shot his roommate Daryus Johnson, 19, on Tuesday. Johnson was found by the police unconscious in the mens’ shared apartment and was rushed to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
"Marrow was not using proper firearms safety when handling the gun," Marietta Police Officer David Baldwin told the Marietta Daily Journal.
Morrow’s charges include involuntary manslaughter, possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.
Morrow has been featured on his grandfather’s reality show Ice Loves Coco. Ice-T was previously told Channel 4 London News his thoughts about guns.
“I’ll give up my gun when everybody else does … if there were guns here, would you want to be the only one without one?” Ice-T is yet to release a statement on his grandson’s actions.
