On his eight try Mets Pitcher Jacob deGrom notched his first win in the Major Leagues. The rookie right-hander struck out seven in seven inning on his way to a 4-0 victory over the Marlins.

deGrom was the first Mets starting pitcher to go winless in his first seven starts, until recording his first win in front of friends and family in Miami according to MLB.com. deGrom told reporters, “I wouldn’t say it was bothering me. It feels good to have one now.”

Third baseman David Wright went 3-for-4 with two runs. Wright singled in the sixth inning to score Eric Young Jr.

Marlins pitcher Tom Koehler gave up two earned runs and fanned eight in seven inning. Marlins reliever Chris Hatcher gave up a two-run homer to Lucas Duda in the ninth inning, his 10th of the year. New York has won three of four.

Right fielder Curtis Granderson reached base safely on a walk, extending his streak to 30 starts in a row according to ESPN.com.

Miami and New York will finish their four-game series tomorrow at 1:10 PM (ET).
