Jamie Dornan is dishing about portraying Christian Grey in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey, admitting he felt uncomfortable stripping down to play the role of the confident businessman.
In an interview with Interview magazine, the former Calvin Klein model admits he’s not confident about his body, in fact he still feels like the “skinny kid” he grew up as.
“I don't like my physique. Who does? I was a skinny guy growing up, and I still feel like that same skinny kid,” he explained.
Dornan went on to say about his variation of the character in E.L. James’ best-selling trilogy, "I don't want to be showy. I'm not interested in seeing that, and I don't want to do it,” adding, "I've played a lot of broken people. Maybe the silences are about the different kinds of vulnerability in all of them."
In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly, Dornan said of preparing for the role physically, “Obviously I’m gonna up it slightly with training, but we don’t have any intention to really bulk up. I don’t think it’s appropriate.”
Dornan will star opposite Dakota Johnson – who plays Anastasia Steele – in Fifty Shades of Grey, which hits theaters Valentine’s Day 2015.
