Mekayla Diehl sparked a great amount of confidence in women all over the country when she walked the Miss USA stage. She may not have placed in the top ten during the pageant, but she showed the world how important it is to have body positivity!
When asked about who motivated her to get fit and strong for the pageant, she spoke of the one and only Jennifer Lawrence.
Diehl’s size-four body is toned and strong and she is proud to serve as a positive body image role model for other young women.
When speaking about what she admired of Lawrence’s take on body image in Hollywood, she said, "I love her. My favorite thing about her is she is herself no matter what,” she told E! News. “She is comfortable in her own skin and doesn't change herself for the industry. I love that about her. She just brushes things off. She looks really healthy. She's an all around healthy person.”
Diehl also spoke with People Magazine about her own body positivity. "I'm confident in my own skin. I didn't obsess over being too skinny or not being tall enough. I knew that I would be going up against some girls that were 6'1" and professional models. That's them; I'm celebrating who I am."
While Jennifer isn’t a huge fan of fitness, Mekayla enjoys working out almost seven days a week for “one to two hours a day.” Talk about dedication!
Both women are strong role models for young girls struggling to accept their own bodies and should be applauded for their positive attitudes.
