Lunden also wrote a letter to fans on her blog, titled “I have Breast Cancer”, in which she takes readers through the diagnosis while revealing an optimistic attitude about the difficult journey ahead and how she will use it to positively influence others.
She reveals that, at first, she thought about keeping her illness a secret, but ultimately decided that it was important to share and encourage others to keep the conversation going.
“Breast cancer is not something to be ashamed of or something that we should feel is too taboo to discuss,” she writes.
Lunden ended the blog post expressing her gratitude for “the support, wisdom, and guidance from all [her] doctors and the loving support of [her] family and friends.”
