Comedian Kathy Griffin has been picked to host this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced on Friday.

The gig continues another successful year for the sometimes controversial comedian, who won the Grammy for Best Comedy Album in January. She has also won two Emmy Awards and is a New York Times bestselling author. The Guinness Book of World Records recently recognized her for her 20 standup specials.

“I am beyond thrilled to be hosting what I’m told is the most important television event of the year,” Griffin said in a statement. She poked fun at the fact that she’s doing the little-watched Daytime Emmys, not the more popular Primetime Emmys.

“My only regret is knowing that this epic evening will distract millions of viewers from enjoying this year’s World Cup,” she continued. “I apologize to FIFA.”

NATAS Chairman Malachy G. Wienges said that they are excited to have a “beloved figure in the community” host the ceremony.

The 41st annual Daytime Emmy Awards are scheduled for June 22 at at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. CBS earned the most nominations with 61, while the network's The Young And The Restless earned a total of 26 nominations. You can watch the ceremony online at DaytimeEmmys.net.
