Lifetime announced on Thursday that the network would be airing an unauthorized film about the Saved by the Bell cast.
The film, The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story, will attempt to tell the off-camera stories of the six young stars of the high school comedy series as they tried to appear wholesome as their popularity grew, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film was put together through several hours of new interviews with those involved in the 1990s series. Jason Pepeyre directed the film, based off Ron McGee's script. Harvey Kahn and Stephen Bulka will executive produce, with Front Street Pictures and Ringaling Productions on board to produce.
According to Buzzfeed, who first learned of the film, Dylan Everett will play Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zack Morris); Sam Kindseth is Dustin Diamond (Screech); Julian Works is Mario Lopez (A.C. Slate); Alyssa Lynch plays Tiffani-Amber Thiessen (Kelly); Tiera Skovybe is Elizabeth Berkley (Jessie); and Taylor Russell McKenzie is Lark Voorhies (Lisa).
This is just the latest of TV films Lifetime has announced recently. There are also films on Whitney Houston and Aaliyah in the works.
The Lifetime film will air on Monday, Sept. 1 at 9 p.m.
