Lindsay Lohan is usually late on movie sets, but in that case, the audience doesn’t have to deal with it. She will have to learn to be on time for her next gig, though, because the audience at the West End isn’t going to stand for it. She has officially signed on to star in a production of David Mamet’s Speed-the-Plow.
Lohan has been cast as Karen, a role Madonna performed in the 1988 Broadway production, reports Broadway.com. The story centers on Hollywood executives Charlie Fox and Bobby Gould, who think they may have a hot project on their hands until a secretary gets in the way. The rest of the cast has not been announced.
The limited production will be staged at the Playhouse Theatre in London, starting on Sept. 24 through Nov. 30.
The news isn’t surprising, as Lohan has been linked to the production for weeks. Earlier this month, Lohan told The New York Times that she is “nervous but excited” to make her West End debut. Lohan said that she had been in London for several months getting ready for the stage.
This will be Lohan’s stage debut, as she’s never done Broadway either. She’s best known for Mean Girls, Freaky Friday and her very public issues with addiction. She has made several recent attempts at a comeback, including the infamous Lifetime movie Liz & Dick, but nothing has panned out yet. Hopefully, time on the London stage will do the trick.
