Lupita Nyong’o appeared at the seventh annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic this month.
Nyong’o wore a carefree black and white dress by Alexander McQueen. She completed the look with a black hat and a black and white handbag.
The event was held Liberty State Park in New Jersey, according to The Huffington Post. It was attended by other A-list movie stars. Other celebrities in attendance were Julianne Moore, Olivia Munn, Aaron Paul, and Dakota Johnson.
According to the Celebuzz, Nyong’o felt free to “stomp divots” during the game. “Stomping divots” is a tradition at polo matches. During a polo game, patches of grass are removed from the playing field by the polo ponies’ movement. The torn grass can be a problem for the horses as they continue to play. The fans feel free to “stomp” the divots back in place, making the playing field more clear for the ponies and the players.
Nyong’o, who was born in Mexico to Kenyan parents, won an Oscar for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for her work in 12 Years a Slave. She also appeared as Gwen in Non-Stop.
