Lourdes Ciccone Leon is following in her famous mother’s footsteps, enrolling in the University of Michigan. Madonna confirmed the news on Instagram.
The Detroit Free Press reported Wednesday that Lourdes, 17, now shows up in the university’s student directory and she has signed up as an undergraduate in the U-M School of Music, Theatre & Dance. Orientation for the university’s summer program starts next week.
Madonna also confirmed the news on Monday, posting a picture of the University of Michigan’s school store in Ann Arbor. “I think ill stop in here!” she wrote in the caption.
According to People, it was not confirmed if Madonna actually bought anything, but it is her second time touring the campus. Madonna and Lourdes were there in November.
Madonna is a Michigan native and did attend the University of Michigan briefly before she moved to New York in the 1970s. the “Material Girl” singer is getting a bit homesick lately, as she was also in Detroit earlier this month to visit community agencies. According to the Free Press, she spent time with students during a trip that was not publicized.
Lourdes did write in a blog post recently that she is sad to end her high school career, but those four years have helped her prepare for college.
