Actress Maria Bello is working on a memoir about coming out, seven months after her New York Times piece drew national attention. The book will be out in 2015.
Back in December, Bello wrote a Times essay, in which she revealed that she is currently in a lesbian relationship and that she is in her own “modern family” with her partner, Clare Munn; her son Jackson; and Jackson’s father, producer Dan McDermott.
In the essay, she wrote what the term “partner” meant for her. “Whomever I love, however I love them, whether they sleep in my bed or not, or whether I do homework with them or share a child with them, ‘love is love,’” Bello wrote. “And I love our modern family.”
Now, Bello is going to expand on relationships and coming out in a book. The book is titled Miracles And Madness and is due out winter 2015. The HarperCollins imprint Dey Street Books is publishing the book.
“As my son said, 'Whatever –love is love.' I know there are many ‘whatevers’ out there and am thrilled that Dey Street/Harper Collins is interested in opening up the conversation to a bigger audience--the conversation being that the only labels we have are the ones we give ourselves,” Bello said in a statement from the publisher.
Bello was last seen on the big screen in Prisoners and recently appeared in the short-lived shows Touch and Prime Suspect.
