Matt Lauer will continue to be working with the Today show for a few years to come. Lauer has signed a contract extension to continue his role on Today show.
AP reported that the announcement was made Friday morning that Lauer has signed a contract extension but it was not announced how long the extension was for. It was explained that this extension was for more than two years.
The show is currently second behind ABC's Good Morning America in the ratings.
Lauer released a statement regarding his contract extension and he expressed that this was the best job he could ask for in the industry, Entertainment Weekly added.
“I consider this the best job in broadcasting,” Lauer detailed in his statement. “I love people I work with every day and I have such respect and gratitude for the people I work for. I couldn’t be happier to be staying.”
Lauer started working with the show back in 1997 and he currently holds the record for the longest-sitting Today anchor.
