According to WCTI, he tore the labrum in his hip during organized team activities. Pouncey was the only returning member of the team’s offensive line from last year.
Pouncey was involved in the Jonathan Martin bullying scandal last year, along with lineman Richie Incognito and John Jerry.
The team’s new center could be an undrafted free agent, either Sam Brenner from the 2013 draft or Tyler Larsen from this years draft, according to Yahoo Sports.
USA Today reports that Pouncey will likely put on the Physically Unable to Perform list during the preseason. At the end of preseason the Dolphins can then either activate him on to the 53-man roster or put him on the reserve PUP list, which would make him ineligible for the first six weeks of the season.
Pouncey is in the final year of his contract with the Dolphins and he will be looking for a contract similar to what his brother Maurkice got from the Pittsburgh Steelers, as written about on TheCelebrityCafe.com.
Pouncey has started every game for the Dolphins since he was drafted in 2011, according to Pro Football Talk.
