MTV renewed freshman comedy Faking It for a ten-episode sophomore run to air in 2015.
The comedy from showrunner Carter Covington averages about 1.4 million viewers each week with a 1.5 rating in its targeted demographic, 12-34 year-olds, according to Deadline. Also, the show keeps nearly 90% of the audience from lead-in show and fellow MTV scripted comedy Awkward. Faking It is MTV’s highest-rated new series this year, and it does well on social media, too.
“Faking It has proved to be the perfect companion show to Awkward,” MTV’s network head, Susanne Daniels said, reports The Hollywood Reporter. “We’re excited about Carter Covington’s delicious plans for season two.”
The comedy focuses on two teenagers, played by Rita Volk and Katie Stevens, who are mistakenly outed as lesbians and decide to run with it to remain popular.
The show was created by Dana Min Goodman and Julia Wolov and executive produced by Covington.
The season one finale airs Tuesday, June 9 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.
