Nationals' Bryce Harper activated from DL

The Washington Nationals have activated outfielder Bryce Harper from the disabled list.

Harper has missed the majority of the season with a torn ligament in his left thumb, according to USA Today.

In Harper’s rehabilitation assignment's with Class A Potomac and Double-A Harrisburg, Harper went 9-for-14 with four home runs and 10 RBIs, according to the Nationals.

Prior to his injury on April 25, Harper was batting .289 with one home run and nine RBI’s.

Harper’s return will vastly improve the Nationals lineup, according to an American League scout.

“Just his mere presence in the lineup is going to be huge. I think [the Nationals] will become even better because you have to respect Harper’s bat,” the scout said.

The Nationals hit .237 with a .304 on-base percentage and went 30-27 since Harper went on the DL.

The move to activate Harper before the team’s game Monday night was helped out by the fact that it will be Bryce Harper bobble head night at the Nationals stadium, according to the AP.
