Somewhere late Thursday night into Friday morning, LeBron James is sitting in silence, visualizing the debacle that is transpiring.
The Spurs have taken a 3-1 series lead over the Heat with their 107-86 Game 4 victory in Miami, according to USAToday.com. Another blowout by the Spurs have many in the league shaking their heads. LeBron James is seemingly running out of gas, and the rest of the team is terrible without him on the floor.
As these 2014 NBA Finals go on, the Carmelo Anthony to Heat rumors heat up.
Let’s make one thing clear here: if Carmelo Anthony finds his way onto the 2014-15 Miami Heat squad, I will take the tent down, pack up my belongings and walk home. It would be an utter disgrace if Melo joins the “Big-Three.”
The opposing views would challenge me by claiming that these stars care so much about winning that they’re willing to take much less money in order to win a championship.
Yes that’s true, but I say it’s the coward’s way out.
What happened to the days where the ultimate competitor was cut-throat? Where their personal challenge is to “Beat” the best and not “Join” the best? Sure Michael Jordan had Scottie Pippen, but he never left his team to make it happen. I would content he'd rather step on the throat of Patrick Ewing than join him for an easier shot at winning.
If Melo joins the Heat, we might as well talk retraction in the Association and cut down to a total of eight teams.
In 2010, LeBron James became desperate and scared. He envisioned a life where he would struggle to win a title with the Cavs, so he conjured up the big-three in Miami. Now, a few short years later, the Miami Heat are facing a major over-haul in their personnel.
Talks have flown around the league about Melo opting-out of his contract and joining this team, notes ESPN.com. Melo, 30 years old, is now facing that same type of desperation. He has only a few superstar years left and is still without a title.
The plan would be for James, Wade, Bosh and Melo to all take way less money (around the $12 million per year mark), so it could fit under the salary cap. With the amount of off-court income these guys see, it is completely feasible.
LeBron of course, is denying any of these rumors at the moment (he has the Spurs on the mind), but as we know in today’s NBA, all of these guys are now friends and the fraternization of these superstar players is out of control.
What can Adam Silver do to stop this stuff?
