Possible top pick in this year’s NBA draft Joel Embiid has reportedly suffered a foot injury.

The Cameroonian basketball player’s agent, Arn Tellem, confirmed the news to ESPN on Thursday.

"He suffered a foot injury to his right foot sometime over the last few days," said Tellem. "He's getting evaluations from various doctors and experts in the field. We'll know more Friday."

This injury comes just one week before a deep draft in which Embiid was projected to be selected as one of the top three picks. Some experts said that the 20-year could have even gone No. 1 overall ahead of former Kansas teammate Andrew Wiggins and former Duke star Jabari Parker.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have the No. 1 overall pick, the Milwaukee Bucks have the second pick and the Philadelphia 76ers have the third pick in the draft.

Any of those teams could have used a talent like Embiid who averaged 11.2 points and 8.1 rebounds a game last season, according to College Basketball Sports Reference.

Although the extent of his injury is not yet clear, Tellem said that his client will not be conducting anymore pre-draft workouts. He was scheduled to work out for the Bucks this week.

Embiid’s injury now brings an uncertainty to a draft where the first three picks were thought to be a lock.
