The man with the most three-point shots made in NBA history Ray Allen is considering retirement after the 2014 season. The 38-year-old veteran has played a lot of basketball over the years. He knows his days playing in the league are numbered. To him it is all about how is body feels. He loves how he has kept his body in shape the past couple of seasons as well.
“I guess everything [is factored into the decision], You get away from it. You sit down and get an opportunity to think about it. It depends on how my body feels. I love the condition I’ve been in over the last couple of years. It’s just a natural progression,” said Allen, reported by the Boston Globe.
Even though it is a possibility he does retire after the NBA finals, there is also a chance he will not. The reason why Allen has been able to stay in the NBA so long is his incredible work ethic. He talks about how he wants to keep up with the younger players and how those players working hard in the weight room rubs off on him.
“So, being in the locker room with younger guys, you talk about the athleticism, you talk about the strength, if anything, it rubs off on you to always keep your mind sharp, to always keep your body on point. The weight room stares at you every time you walk into the locker room. It’s just hard to not want to keep up or set the tone,” said Allen, confirmed by the Boston Globe.
It is a guarantee that Ray Allen will get signed next year to any team that wants him. Also, teams who will be in pursuit of Allen will appreciate his shooting and his minimum salary contract. However, the decision of stepping away from the game or coming back is something he has earned the right to do, according to NBC Sports.
