In the opening scene Kandi heads to Derek J’s salon to work on her wedding hair. Since she is obsessed with the movie
Next up, Kandi is getting her nails done at home. Todd wanders in and asks about the pre-nup. Kandi says her lawyer is sending soon. Todd is getting impatient because he wants time for his lawyer to look it over.
Later on, Todd asks for Kandi’s rules on the bachelor party. There’s a fun banter between them as to what each is allowed to at their bachelor/bachelorette parties. It really shows that these two have a great friendship.
Finally Todd gets the pre-nup from Kandi’s attorney and surprisingly he’s enlisted Real Housewife of Atlanta resident attorney Randy Kessler to help him talk it out.
They discuss the bad timing of it. Randy would like to have 4 or 6 weeks to go back and forth with negotiations. Todd agrees, but admits that the wedding is 48 hours away and this needs to get done now. A couple of the sticky points for Todd were that if they split up, he’d have to move out in 30 days and if Kandi were to pass away, he gets nothing. Randy suggests that Todd not sign the pre-nup as it is now and agrees to call Kandi’s lawyer to negotiate.
In a nice, touching scene, Kandi and Mama Joyce visit Kandi’s brother’s grave. It’s an attempt by Kandi to bridge the gap. They talk about what he would have become and what their relationship would be with him. It comes out that Mama Joyce clings tighter to Kandi because she has already lost one child and can’t imagine losing another. In the end, Mama Joyce agrees to walk Kandi down the aisle and we start to believe there’s hope for Mama Joyce.
Todd meets up with his friends from NY and Chicago for the beginning of his bachelor party. His friends ask what the scariest part of getting married is and Todd fears that Kandi will put a noose on his neck and say he can’t go out with his friends anymore. They talk about the pre-nup and Todd’s concern that he’s going to lose everything because it’s so heavily Kandi sided. However, he makes a good point that the lawyers are going to argue it out. He says if he and Kandi get involved they will go to the personal level and might say some things they don’t mean.
They move on to the party part of the night and for another RHOA tie-in it’s being held at Bar One with Peter and Apollo hosting. They have a throne, girls in bikinis feeding him strawberries and tequila shots flowing.
Over at Kandi’s party, the ladies are taking shots from penis syringes when Phaedra shows up with the entertainment. Kandi hopes it’s a Ridiculous impersonator, but it turns out to be a little person female dancer. It’s not the kind of party that Kandi or any of her friends expected, but they make it fun none the less.
The next morning is the wedding rehearsal. Everyone is in a good mood, except Kandi and Todd. Kandi ignores him because she’s mad that he has not signed the pre-nup. Todd feels like he’s being treated like a Kandi groupie in the document. They run through the rehearsal and Mama Joyce gets in a dig at Todd and at Kandi’s dad before the whole thing is over. Afterward, Kandi and Todd are sitting alone in the venue discussing the pre-nup. Kandi states that her lawyer has advised her to postpone the wedding. She admits that she does not want to give Todd any alimony money and is confused because she thought they were on the same page. Todd feels like the document is very cold and unfeeling. He brings up the 30 days eviction if they break up. Kandi doesn’t believe that Todd is “hurt” because all of the notes from his lawyer are about money and not feelings. They are at a crossroads with neither budging. Finally Todd storms out mumbling about calling off the wedding and drives off with his best friend. Kandi’s friends rally around her and let her vent about the pre-nup objections while they toss out ideas on what to say to the guests when the wedding doesn’t happen.
Next week we will see the big wedding, but not before some more Mama Joyce and pre-nup drama.
