Former Indianapolis Colts’ wide receiver Marvin Harrison was shot at in Philadelphia on Saturday after he picked up a victim fleeing from an alleged robbery.
According to The Philadelphia Daily News, police sources have said that Harrison was driving his pickup truck early Saturday morning when a man, wearing only his boxers, flagged him down.
The man was frantic and explained to the former receiver that he was fleeing a home invasion. Harrison agreed to let him get into the back of his vehicle, but immediately after that, shots rang out as the apparent intruders gave chase.
One bullet hit Harrison’s car, but neither he nor the victim were wounded.
The 41-year-old, once known as Peyton Manning’s favorite target, has been in the news before for reported gunfire.
In 2008, he was accused of shooting a man in the hand after the two got into a physical altercation at a garage he owned in North Philadelphia. That same man was later shot outside another establishment owned by the ex-player and died two months later. The case remains unsolved.
Pro-Football-Reference.com noted that Harrison finished his NFL career with 1,102 receptions and 128 touchdowns all with the Colts.
