Robert De Niro took a break on Thursday in Brooklyn while filming The Intern so he could watch the U.S.-Germany World Cup match.
Ahead of the noon start time for the match, Warner Bros. sent out an email to a nearby apartment building asking if a small satellite could be placed on top of their building so that the legendary actor could watch, according to one apartment resident who spoke with Business Insider.
"Would it be possible to place a small portable satellite on the building rooftop ASAP and run a cable to the street to help facilitate this request?" the email asked.
It ended up not mattering as the resident said that some nearby house offered to let the Raging Bull actor come inside and watch the match. "We got another email from a neighbor saying he talked to the crew and apparently he found a house of people watching it and joined them."
De Niro isn't the only one who took time away during early working hours on Thursday to watch the U.S. and Germany square off, as 10.8 million tuned into the awkwardly timed match, along with 1.7 million who watched through the WatchESPN app.
