The Seattle Seahawks’ Pro Bowl running back is expected to skip minicamp next week because he wants a new deal.
Sources have told ESPN, that Marshawn Lynch is expected to miss the mandatory camp because he wants a contract extension and to renegotiate his current deal.
Lynch did not attend the team’s trip to the White House in May and has not appeared at any of the Seahawks’ voluntary organized team activities.
If he skips minicamp it could cost him almost $70,000 in fines, under the new CBA.
The 28-year-old is entering the third year of his four-year contract that is worth $30 million. He is set to make $5 million this season.
The Seahawks have been making lucrative deals this offseason with safety Earl Thomas, cornerback Richard Sherman and head coach Pete Carroll. Now, Lynch too wants to be paid top dollar.
The running back, who is considered among the best in the league, rushed for 1,257 yards last year and had 12 rushing touchdowns and two receiving, noted Pro-Football-Reference.com.
