The father of Star Wars George Lucas chooses Chicago as the location for the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, over such cities as Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The decision was a tough one for Lucas, as he has many professional roots in the San Francisco bay area. The Star Wars creator proposed a site near Crissy Field, but it was rejected by officials.
"The Presidio Trust unwisely rejected Mr. Lucas' proposal for a site near Crissy Field," San Francisco mayor Edwin M. Lee said, CNN reports. "...which forced Mr. Lucas to look to cities like Chicago."
The museum will be located in Chicago in what is known as the museum campus, along the city's well-known lake front. The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art will be a new neighbor to the Shedd Aquarium, the Adler Planetarium and the Field Museum.

Lucas' wife, Mellody Hobson, is also a resident of Chicago, which was another incentive for the famed director's decision. She is the president of Ariel Investments and is a member of multiple corporate boards.
Displays of the site will feature Lucas' collection of art and film memorabilia, including movie posters and props from his establishing films, Star Wars.
CNN says the final plans for the facility are expected to be finished in the fall. And Starpulse reports that the museum will be open for business in 2018.
