Starz has put in an early renewal for Power, a new series that just premiered this past Friday. Rapper Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson is among the show’s executive producers.
Deadline confirmed that the show will begin production again this September for a second 10-episode season. Filming will take place in New York and at Steiner Studios in Brooklyn.
Power was created by Courtney Kemp Agboh and is executive produced by Jackson, Mark Canton, David Knoller and Randall Emmett. Omari Hardwick stars as James “Ghost” St. Patrick, who is trying to leave his days as a drug dealer behind to start a legitimate nightclub.
The show’s early success comes as a sigh of relief for Starz, which has to build up a roster of successful shows after Magic City was cancelled and Spartacus ended. The network boasted Monday that Power drew 2.6 million viewers over various platforms throughout the weekend.
