The Guardian reported that in an interview, Sting was worried that the fortune he has made through his music would be “albatrosses round their necks.” For Sting, trust funds aren’t something he feels are important, especially as he grew up in a family that was working-class.

He has six children and Sting made it apparent they know they are expected to work and be able to provide for themselves. Sting said, “They have to work. All my kids know that and they rarely ask me for anything, which I really respect and appreciate.”

According to the Associated Press, Sting also made the kids aware that, “there won’t be much money left because we are spending it.” He knew there were assumptions being made about his children being “born with a silver spoon in their mouth,” but he made it clear the kids have not grown up being handed anything they want.

His fortune stands at 180 million pounds, which is equivalent to $306 million dollars in the United States. Despite his wealth, however, Sting apparently does go through his money quite a bit, especially as he has over 100 people he employs.
