The Tampa Bay Rays (35-39) won an offensive shootout over the Baltimore Orioles (42-39) 12-7 to take three out of four games. Rays pitcher Alex Cobb (3-6) pitched five innings, allowing eight hits and four runs, though just three were earned. Though he didn’t have a great performance, the Rays 18 hits helped Cobb get the win.
Orioles pitcher Miguel Gonzales (3-4) was relieved after 4.2 innings in which he allowed three runs and eight hits. Orioles reliever Evan Meek (0-3) took the loss after he allowed four runs in his inning of relief.
The Rays 12 runs scored was their highest since mid April, including seven runs in the sixth inning, according to the Tampa Bay Times
The Rays have won 11 of their last 18, but still hold the worst record in the Major Leagues.
