While it seems like TBS runs a block of Seinfeld episodes every day anyway, the network is still doing something special for the best sitcom of the 1990s. To celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary, the network will run the 25 best episodes of the series, based on their programmers’ opinions of course.
The week-long event will start on Monday, June 30 with “The Pen” at 6 p.m. From then on, TBS will air two-hour blocks of the show from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. through Friday, July 4. On Saturday, July 5 the event will end with five episodes from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., ending with “The Yada Yada.”
This year doesn’t exactly mark the 25th anniversary of the first season of the show. As most fans know, the first ‘season’ ran just four episodes and only four aired in 1990. The pilot, called The Seinfeld Chronicles, did air back on July 5, 1989, establishing the tone of the show, but was missing one key ingredient - Elaine.
Seinfeld was created by Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David. The show starred Seinfeld, Jason Alexander, Michael Richards and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
