Team United States lost to Germany today, but they are still in the league to fight for the FIFA World Cup.
According to The New York Times, the U.S. completed with a win, tie and loss in a group stage to hold a second place in group G. For the first time the United States will play the winner of group H, Belgium. The game will take place in Salvador on Tuesday. There was a sigh of relief when Cristiano Ronaldo scored a late goal for Portugal, and it increased the odds of securing United States since a Ghana victory of 2-1 would mean that the United States is out of the league. Germany has been the most favorite team of the league and they were quite aggressive with their attack. However, the Americans defended well and ensured that the game was till scoreless by half-time.
Daily News mentioned that the Americans got another chance to stay in Brazil since they only gave up a goal to Germany. It wasn't as brutal when Portugal lost 4-0 to Germany.
This opportunity gives the U.S. players still another chance to celebrate, huddle, jump, and look at each other with happy faces until the Belgium game on Tuesday, July 1.
