Actress Ann B. Davis, best known for her performance as Alice Nelson, the housekeeper on The Brady Bunch, died today in San Antonio, Texas. She was 88.
Bishop William Frey, a close friend of Davis, told CNN that she fell and hit her head Saturday morning in her bathroom. Suffering from a subdural hematoma, she never gained consciousness and died in the hospital not long after she was taken there.
In addition to being remembered as Alice on the hit show, Davis was also well-known for her two-time Emmy-winning performance as Charmaine "Schultzy" Schultz on The Bob Cummings Show. She was also seen in various Brady Bunch TV movies, like The Brady Girls Get Married, A Very Brady Christmas and also made a cameo in The Brady Bunch Movie as a truck driver. This was one of her final performances.
In addition to her work on TV and on the screen, she also wrote a cookbook called Alice's Brady Bunch Cookbook, with recipes inspired by the show according to The Wrap. She also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which she earned in 1960.
